(Note: Minnesota Appliance Stimulus Rebate funds have been exhasted as of Nov. 17, 2010)
The U.S. Department of Energy Minnesota's Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program (or Minnesota Trade-in & Save Appliance Rebate Program) was relaunched Wednesday, Nov. 17 to hand out the remaining $717,000 in unclaimed rebates from the March 2010 program. In March, a limited amount of rebates were reserved by state residents who purchased qualified Energy Star appliances from local retailers. Funds during the relaunch were claimed within just hours.
Beginning at 8 a.m. that day, Minnesotans who purchased an eligible Energy Star appliance on or after March 1, 2010 could visit to www.mnappliancerebate.com or call 1-877-230-9119 to apply for a rebate. The program was aimed at those who did not get a rebate reservation in March but purchased an eligible appliance anyway.
Rebates totals included:
Rebates were limited to one per household, so those who received a rebate in March couldn't apply for another rebate during the November relaunch. Check the Energy Star Web site and the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency (DSIRE) for additional rebates.
State rebates are gone, but don’t overlook the money saved by replacing in general. A refrigerator, washer and dishwasher bought in the 1990s cost $207 more per year in utility costs than current, energy-efficient models.
